Opium Wars News

OCTOBER 2026 - Goodbye Japan Chiba Game Market, Hello Essen Spiel!

Tokyo Chiba Game Market Expo October 17-18.

Youtube: Midi Games at the Expo

Midi Games was at booth E019. The Expo is heavy on simpler card and board games, but our booth got many visitors curious about the game and very interested in the topic.  Several visitors actually wanted to buy the game, but we had to explain it will only be coming out in 2027.  We collected many emails and will keep people updated on game progress.

SEPTEMBER 2026

Game Design and Playtest

The game (map, rules, player guide, player sheets, cards summary, etc.) is now fully translated in French and Japanese languages. Now 6 play test groups: Arizona, California, Singapore, Osaka Japan, Lyon France, Toronto Canada. We are always looking for more play test groups. Contact us if you are interested.

Osaka Middle Earth Wargaming Convention

2 games of Opium Wars were played. In the first game, Great Britain won an early victory through a massive push of Trade Ports in China. In the second game, the Chinese Rebels won on the turn before last, successfully launching the 1911 Revolution and establishing the modern Republic of China. The Chinese Rebel player had been very effective in the first few turns at spreading the Taiping and Nian rebellions and sapping the Qing Empire.
